Meanwhile, here at The Editing Company we have pulled out our bicycles, donned our lighter jackets, and set our sights on the coming summer months. We’ve been keeping busy and look forward to a productive spring. Here is a quick update of our recent and ongoing projects in academic editing, business proofreading, magazine proofreading, journal editing and layout, and polishing of manuscripts for self-publishing authors.

NEW ACADEMIC COPY-EDITING PROJECTS
*Academic & Educational Journal Editing
We have completed editing articles for the spring 2014 issue of Canadian Journal of Education 37:1 and are now laying out the pages for the online journal using InDesign. This issue of CJE is scheduled to be launched online in early June.

We completed editing articles and proofreading the final pages of the just-published think: The Lola Stein Institute Journal (Spring 2014). We also completed proofing a tribute book in celebration of The Toronto Heschel School’s 18th anniversary.

*Academic Book Manuscripts
We have completed the copy editing of Vincenzo Cuoco’s Historical Essay on the Neapolitan Revolution of 1799, and are now turning our attention to a few new manuscripts for UTP. One looks at the history of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and another is a history of health and physical fitness in Canadian universities.

As well, we are working with a scholar as she revises her dissertation into a book: an ethnographic study of street vendors in a major Indonesian city who were forced to relocate from the streets to an indoor mall.

*Academic Journal Articles
We have edited several scholarly papers, among them a study of tax policies in the Chinese automotive sector, and an analysis of how the discourse of childhood fatphobia in media news and scholarly literature negatively influences social welfare policies.

NON-FICTION EDITING
Our longtime client Champion Press has hired us to copy edit its most recent publication for clinicians and therapists working with children who have experienced sexual abuse.

BUSINESS COPY EDITING & PROOFREADING
We were hired by Super Simple Learning in Portland, Oregon, to edit a set of 7 teaching modules that use music and song to teach English to children. As well, we continue proofreading marketing materials for our client Dee Cipher B2B Marketing. In April, we began training for and writing an online instruction manual for Supply Chain Management Canada.

Our Ongoing Commitment
As academic editors, we understand just how critical the "publish or perish” requirement is for academic writers. As business editors, we know that projects can come up at the last minute. For both our academic and business clients, we do our best to schedule last-minute editing and proofreading projects into our weekly workflow. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call when you are faced with a last-minute deadline and need our copy editing and proofreading assistance.

COPY EDITING & PROOFREADING MAGAZINES
We are now proofreading articles for the summer issues of Dolce Vita Magazine and Dolce City Life Magazine.

SELF-PUBLISHING EDITING PROJECTS
We are working with several self-publishing authors assisting them in preparing their manuscripts for publication. One of our recent projects is the shaping and copy editing of a second e-book by a fitness expert (and former competitive bodybuilder) that outlines not only the many health advantages of intermittent fasting but also a customized plan to guide readers in adopting this eating lifestyle. We are also completing a substantive edit and copy edit of a guide to personal development that helps women in their 50s plan for and achieve personal goals.

We are now completing the editing of a client’s memoir that details his escape to London from Germany during the Second World War where he launched a professional career that took him around the world.
