The Editing Company’s Writers Support Package
The Editing Company’s Writers Support Package is an 18-month plan that is designed to help you write your manuscript without excessive pressure. During this period, a TEC editor will be assigned to work with you. She/he will review your manuscript-in-progress, and provide constructive feedback on an ongoing basis. Once the entire manuscript is completed, the editor will tweak it, polish it, and fine-tune it. TEC editors are committed to working with authors in a collaborative and non-judgmental environment, and bring to the process experience in the editing of trade non-fiction, academic, business, and education publications.
The package includes confidential bi-weekly meetings with your editor. This is your time to talk about how your writing is coming along and to receive feedback on the writing you have accomplished so far.
The package includes 110 hours of quality support over 18 months. These hours are based on a 200-250 page manuscript:
- A 2-hour meeting to set up a manageable timeline that works for you; to formalize your commitment; and to book in time for your one-on-one meetings
- 34 hours of one-on-one support meetings on a bi-weekly basis to discuss work-in-progress and provide editorial feedback
- 35 hours for substantive editing
- 35 hours for final copy editing
- 4 hours to help you identify potential publishers and prepare your cover letter
The agreement: You will be asked to sign a memorandum of agreement with TEC. The agreement explains the responsibilities of both parties, the fee and payment structure, and the editorial work that will be done during the course of the 18 months.
Your commitment: As part of the agreement, you will be asked to sign a statement of commitment that you intend to complete your manuscript within 18 months. We don't mean this to sound harsh. It's just our way of pushing you gently to the finish line.
