Photo research services

We will research online archives, stock agencies, independent photographers, libraries, and other available sources to locate suitable photos or artwork for your publication.

We will provide a selection of photos from which you can choose. You can also specify the level of resolution (high, medium) that will best suit your publication. Once your selection is made, we will order the download and send it to you. While we do not handle payment of invoices, we do handle obtaining the licenses and receiving the invoices, keeping them in an orderly file until the project is complete. We then forward these to you for payment.

If you know what you need to clear, send us your list. We will discuss budget issues with you beforehand and give you updates whenever you request them.

The IAM hired The Editing Company to research photographs for a slide show being exhibited at its upcoming conference in September 2012. We located 63 photographs depicting 200 years of Canadian labour history and secured the copyright permissions for their display in the slide show. Drawing on our knowledge of archival research and the relevant history, we delivered photographs whose topics ranged from shipbuilders of the 1812 era to railroad and aerospace workers, to automobile lineworkers and women in industry, to key events that helped to shape the labour movement in Canada up until 2012.

“I am very pleased to have hired The Editing Company to research photographs depicting 200 years of Canadian labour history for use in a slideshow at our upcoming conference.  Photo researcher Max Baru was quick, professional, budget-minded and well versed in the relevant history. Thank you to Max and to Beth, TEC’s senior editor, for doing such a great job!”

Quip of the Week
“As a college lecturer in Pakistan, I had never been reduced to making cold calls. As a newcomer to Canada, however, things were entirely different, and I had to turn to this very undesirable method of finding my way around the professional world. And with relief and some happiness I confess that cold calls are not all that bad.”
